Dr. Sonu Kakar, founder of our practice, attended the University of Virginia and
earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry in 1997. He received
his Dental Degree from the School of Dentistry at the
Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Following
dental school, Dr. Kakar completed a Pediatric
Dental Training program at the Temple University
Hospital in Philadelphia. His training involved
treating pediatric patients under Nitrous Sedation,
Conscious Sedation, and General Anesthesia in the
hospital operating room. Dr. Kakar performs
treatment under General Anesthesia at the Prince William
Hospital in Manassas, Virginia.
Dr. Kakar is a member of numerous dental organizations,
including the American Dental Association and the
American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He resides in
McLean, Virginia
and enjoys
watching movies, playing tennis, racquetball, and
traveling.
Richard L. Byrd, DDS
Dr. Richard Byrd is a quality practicing orthodontist
who has completed advance education required by the
American Dental Association to be a specialist in
problem orthodontics for both children and adults.
He has been practicing in the state of Virginia for more
than 12 years. Dr. Byrd is an active member of the
American Dental Association, the American Association of
Orthodontist, the Virginia Orthodontic Association, and
the Southern Orthodontic Association. Dr. Byrd
continually updates his knowledge by attending education
courses. This allows him to remain informed of the
most advanced procedures and services. He is well
versed in the Damon Self-Ligating Bracket System
as well as Invisalign®.
Dr. Byrd is very serious about being a good role model
for kids in the community. He plays an active role
in his church and other civic and athletic activities in
the area.
MarkusL. Niepraschk, DDS, MS
Dr. Markus Niepraschk was born and raised in Virginia. He graduated summa
cum laude from the Dental School of Virginia Commonwealth University, and
completed his orthodontic training at Marquette University, where he was awarded
a Master of Science degree and certificate of specialty in Orthodontics. A
board-certified orthodontist, Dr. Niepraschk believes in staying up-to-date on
the latest technology and advances in orthodontics to provide the best possible
treatment and ensure a winning smile.
Dr. Niepraschk is a Diplomate
of the American Board of Orthodontics, and a member of the American Association
of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and Virginia Dental Association.
Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three young
children. He is fluent in German, enjoys playing soccer, and loves roller
coasters.
Zukaey Al Lababidi, DDS
Dr. Al Lababidi or Dr. Al ( as
our patients like to call him ) graduated from dental school in 1996 from
Bangalore University and completed his internship from King Abdul-Aziz
University. Dr. Al completed his residency in Pediatric Orthodontics
departments and also in Implant Dentistry at Paris VI University in 2002.
During his training in Paris,
he participated in advanced clinical training in Dentofacial Orthopedics at
George Eastman Institute. He also participated in advanced clinical
training in Orthodontics in Mantes La Jolie Hospital and advanced clinical
training in Dentofacial Orthopedics in Argenteuil Hospital. Before
joining our group in Aug 2008, Dr. Al Lababidi was at Nova Southeastern
University, Florida, and completed his Advanced Education in General Dentistry
in 2008.
Dr. Al treats both our
pediatric and adult patients. He focuses heavily on adult dentistry, primarily
in the specialized fields of cosmetic and prosthetic treatment.
Cristelle Rodriguez, DDS
Dr. Rodriguez (Dr. Cris) has
over 17 years of experience as both a general and pediatric dentist. She lives
in the Ashburn area and has been practicing dentistry in Northern Virginia for
the past 5 years. Dr. Rodriguez-Singh is a board eligible pediatric dentist who
specializes in care for children from infancy through adolescence.
As part of
her residency program at Children's National Medical Center and George
Washington University, she was trained at treating severe medically compromised
patients and children with various developmental malformations. In addition, she
has completed extensive training at the University of Washington, where she
received a Fellow DECOD specialized certificate and became proficient at treating persons
with disabilities. She earned her DDS Dentistry degree from Escuela
Colombiana de Medicina and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric
Dentistry, American Dental Association, and Northern Virginia Dental
Association.
Dr. Rodriguez has many years of
experience in treating young children who need a relief from the stresses of
dental procedures by utilizing behavior management techniques and
conscious sedation.
She provides care with an anesthesiologist, utilizing general anesthesia for
those who require long and complex treatment. Dr. Rodriguez believes in
comprehensive care for her patients by recognizing and intercepting problems at
an early age. Dr Rodriguez takes great pride
in providing children with a safe and healthy environment. To continue to
provide her patients with the latest in pediatric technology, she remains active
in various local organizations and attends seminars.
Dr. Cris has 2 beautiful
children. Her hobbies include singing and dancing.
