Dr. Sonu Kakar attended the University of Virginia and
earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry in 1997. He received
his Dental Degree from the School of Dentistry at the
Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Following
dental school, Dr. Kakar completed a Pediatric
Dental Training program at the Temple University
Hospital in Philadelphia. His training involved
treating pediatric patients under Nitrous Sedation,
Conscious Sedation, and General Anesthesia in the
hospital operating room. Dr. Kakar performs
treatment under General Anesthesia at Prince William
Hospital in Manassas and the SurgiCenter of Central
Virginia in Fredericksburg.
Dr. Kakar is a member of numerous dental organizations,
including the American Dental Association and the
American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He resides in Fairfax, Virginia
and enjoys
watching movies, playing tennis, racquetball, and
traveling.
Oscar Luna, DDS
Dr. Oscar Luna joined our group in November, 2006 and is
currently practicing at both of our locations. Dr.
Luna is originally from Bolivia and was educated at the
University of San Andres, La Paz, Bolivia, where he
earned his Dental Degree. Dr. Luna also studied in
the U.S. at George Mason University; completed a certificate
program in Pediatric Dentistry at the University
of Southern California; and attended continuing education courses in General Dentistry and
Orthodontics at the University of California, Los
Angeles.
Dr. Luna had a private practice in Bolivia and held a
Faculty position in the Pediatric Dental Department at
the University of San Andres, La Paz. He returned
to the U.S. to accept a Fellowship teaching position
with the Pediatric Dental Department of the University
of Maryland. Dr. Luna is highly qualified in
conscious sedation and behavior management. He is
a co-author of clinical articles, and is currently working on a
case report for future publication.
